Description:

A row of houses from "la rue de la ferronnerie" in the old centre of Paris.
This building is the eastern part of a 3-parts recreation of this long building. It was constructed between 1669 and 1678 and still stands today. The front looks over a narrow street and the arches lead to an open and busy square.

At the time stood the cemetery of the Holy Innocents (oldest cemetery in Paris, dismantled just before the French Revolution). The houses have been built atop one of the charnel houses that ran along the cemetery’s enclosure. It’s arcades are the only remaining vestiges of the burial grounds along with the fountain that now stands in the center of the square.
