Description:

Map theme made for the map here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=682146268 Feel free to use for any map that you will make a sci fi scene on!

The same as Outback theme (red rock desert on Earth found here http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=678839907 ) with two differences:

– Tiny one: very, very tiny change in daytime sky tint (this sort of sky tint does occur in deserts on Earth as well. Still blue, but a tiny light violet haze on the horizon)

– HUGE one: nighttime. You don’t even have to look up! Massive alien planet (high quality texture) in the place of the moon, the nighttime sky horizon matches the color spectrum of the planet’s corona. From what I can see, it seems as if CO also programmed things so that as the moon goes across the sky, where it is lit changes too, giving it a realistic simulation of rotation! Well now you can *really* see that thanks to this planet! O.O

This was supposed to come with a map. Each time I made the map (twice!) I got to the point of completion, and each time they ended up being corrupted and I can’t figure out how to fix it. Tons of work, and It even came with an introduction story. Here’s the story – might as well share it! Make Planet Andromeda on anyone’s temperate map!

**Andromeda*****************

It is the end of the Third Age. The vast, glittering cities of our home world are little more than smoking rubble, their once sunny, blue skies now wear a grey pallor of ash and soot. The sneak attack by the Drath Ngul took our peaceful world by complete surprise. They told their people it was a pre-emptive strike to defend against what they called a “dangerous species with advanced technology that could be used against us at any time”.

Accompanied by a detachment of armed escorts, only a small number of passenger ships made it past the Drath Ngul star cruisers unscathed. Anders Zeynar and his family were on board one of those lucky few.

As the FTL drive spooled up, Anders stood in front of the large observation window.

“Where are we going to go, dad?” asked Jakko.
“I don’t know, Jakko…” said Anders, staring blankly at the home world. “but don’t you worry, they’ll find us a nice new planet, safe from the Drath Ngul.” he said, patting his son on the head putting the best reassuring smile he could muster at that most serious of moments. “No child should have to go through this” thought Anders, just as the FTL drive engaged. Their journey had begun.

COUNCIL CURRENTLY IN SESSION.

“Sure, it’s safe from the Drath Ngul, as long as the tentacled morons can’t develop FTL drives and manage to find this remote corner of the galaxy, but terraforming this spinning hunk of iron will take up nearly all of our energy reserves, Commander. Just imagine how primitively we’ll have to live! Surely it would be better to continue the search” said Councillor Dreik.

“For the last time, Councillor Dreik, not all of our people made it out on the latest, most luxurious cruisers” said Commander Amergin, rolling his eyes. “A third of our hodgepodge fleet is in bad need of repair, I doubt they’d make it another light year, much less another FTL jump to another sector. “The science team report assures us of plenty of energy sources available. As primitive as those resources may be, in good time we will be able to begin generating xenium again. For now, we will have to revert to some very basic technologies while we start from scratch. It may not be comfortable for you, Councillor, but we all must make sacrifices” said the Commander, raising the gavel.

Councillor Dreik frantically pushed his talk button again. “But…”

“Enough talk! Decision made!” bellowed the stoic Commander, slamming down the gavel hard enough to make everyone’s ears ring. “Terraform Team members: report for duty at once.”

“Well, that’s that” said Anders with a smirk.
