Description:

This is my first ever asset I’ve created and shared! Enjoy!

Model Info:

This is a fairly accurate build of the Springfield Interchange just south of Washington DC in the USA. It manages access to and from I-95, I-395, I-495 (The Capital Beltway) and local roads.

Completed in 8 phases to replace the highly congested original interchange built in the 1960s which was unable to cope with a huge influx of traffic due to both incredible growth in Northern Virginia in recent decades and the re-routing of I-95 around the beltway.

One of the most expensive infrastructure projects in US history, the US$676 million interchange now handles nearly 500,000 vehicles a day.

There are 2 versions of this interchange. Because the game does not support reversible roads (I-95 has separated HOV/Express lanes that change traffic direction depending on traffic conditions, easing conjestion either in-to or out-of the city center), some creative re-design was necessary. In order to keep the model as accurate as possible, there are two intersections of express traffic to the north of the model. A second version of this asset has been re-designed to prevent this for in-game use.

Cheers!
