Description:

This is a map based on a real-world heightmap of a section of the Cascade Mountains, in Washington State. This updated version has a nicer-looking, more classic and realistic set of highway bridges that cross over a large valley and river. The map spans an area that would include a stretch of the Sauk River and a piece of the Mountain Loop Highway.

Climate:

Boreal

Map Features:

Mountains (lots of interesting peaks, ridges, and valleys), River & Tributaries, Forest, Highway, Rail, and Ships

Missing Features:

None (includes outside connections for all 4 types of transportation and all 4 natural resources)

I have been scowering the Workshop for realistic mountanous maps not set in Europe, but was dissatisfied with the offerings. So I decided to make some of my own from scratch.

This is an updated version of the original, available here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=540761635
The two versions are identical, except for the set of large highway bridges spanning across the valley and river visible in the 2nd and 3rd images above. Both function properly, it’s just a matter of taste as to which you might prefer. You can check out the bridge style of the original in its preview images.

Detailed Description

This map has a LOT of mountains and forest area, relatively few flat areas, various sizes of rivers snaking through it, and several small tributaries that feed the rivers. So, if you are looking for a map on which to build a huge sprawling city, this is probably not for you. But if you are like me, and you enjoy the challenge and creativity needed to design winding mountain roads and find small patches of land for developing areas with impressive overlooks, then I hope this map gives you what you are looking for. Though it does have several small valleys, usually along the rivers, which should provide area for some decent developments. The map has some of each natural resource, though the "fertile" areas were added with a very light touch.

Notes

This is my third map that I’ve published for Cities: Skylines, and while I feel like the design and detail is far better than my first two, I would love any constructive criticism on ways that it could be improved, for future maps. Please let me know in the comments if you experience any issues, since I am unfamiliar with how the mods I have enabled might affect this map for others, though I am pretty sure nothing I am using should have any effect… Also, if you use the map, I’d love to see screenshots of what you do with it, perhaps to feature here on the Workshop page.
