Description:

"Welcome to Tropico, Presidente, your very own island paradise! Sure, she might not be much to look at now with the lack of services, buildings, roads, toilet paper or even citizens, but she has a wealth of beauty and riches waiting to be uncovered by someone as brave, as daring, as good-…well, as looking as yourself. If you build it, they will come!"

Tropico! is my first map and not based on any specific maps from the famous Tropico games, more that I was inspired by it because I really, really love the aesthetics of island maps, and mainly I used the idea of a tropical island to play around with and learn how the various map editing tools worked. Some 30 hours or more of poking around at it on and off after work some days (oh BOY was it a pain to get the water to do what I wanted…I could weave a tail about that alone) eventually led me here, and since some friends of mine wanted to play around with it, I figured I’d put it on the workshop.

This map has no road or rail connections, as it is, you know, an island. The plopped harbors will be your only avenue of freight or Cims entering/leaving Tropico, at least until you unlock harbors or airports of your own. It also has pretty limited build plains, and the terrain becomes more challenging the further away you move from the start square. As such, I do not recommend this map for expansive city builds, though it can certainly be possible with a skilled builder.

If there are any errors, please let me know; I’d love to learn and improve upon this and future maps.

A HUGE thanks to all the wonderful asset creators on the workshop whose contributions made this map and many cities of mine a joy to build and behold, and especially to BloodyPenguin who’s sheer volume of quality mods have found their way onto my machine. Much love to Mr Miyagi, whose map making tutorials kept me from pulling out what’s left of my hair.

Recommended Theme: OWL’s Mediterranean Alternative
Recommended LUT: San Minato LUT or your favorite Relight LUT setting.
Or, do what you want, I’m not your parent. 🙂

Required assets (and the very, very recommended theme) are in the side bar.
Recommended assets to get your map looking like my screenshots are listed below; however, it’s likely I’ve forgotten either some game settings or somesuch (I’m still very new to this), so let me know if this doesn’t work:

Ultimate Eyecandy

– – Latitude = 35.6
– – Longitude = 0
– – Global Light Intensity = 7.5
– – Ambient Light Intensity = 1.5
