Description:

Weißenburg’s train station, inaugurated in 1869, is located west of the city center. From there local trains northbound to Nürnberg and southbound to Augsburg or Munich depart once or twice per hour. The station’s building was abandoned around 2000, but re-opened 2017 as a "music station" with a coffee shop.

Weißenburg i. Bay., Germany

Building info:
– 16×5 tiles (slightly narrower than default station)
– <1000 triangles total, main texture size 1024×2048
– Includes illumination, alpha and specular texture, no color variants, not snow optimized, no LOD variant
Building properties based on vanilla train station, but about 1/3 lower.
– 50 workers
– Noise accumulation 115, radius 150
– Price 35.000, Maintenance 5.000

This was the most challenging model so far (even though not the largest one):
– Creating specular/illumination texture for ~40 windows, some not rectangular
– Correct positioning of building and platforms relative to track
– Getting the colors right (Why must CS increase brightness/saturation that much?)
– Uses three sub-meshes.
– Getting the underpass sub-mesh textures correct. (Must be created completely over ground, moved down as sub-mesh.)
– Avoiding a hole in the ground around the underpass exits.
– Getting acquainted with new mods for creating the pedestrian connections for the underpass.
– Getting the pedestrian connections right so they’e used and don’t block the station from being built.
Phew!
