Description:

Good evening!

This model is based on Nożyk Synagogue from Warsaw, Poland.

A brief history according to Wiki;

Synagoga Nożyków / בית הכנסת נוז’יק / Nożyk Synagogue

The name of this Orthodox synagogue honors its funders; Zalman and Rywka Nożyk.

It was opened on 12 of may 1902, during a holiday of Lag ba-Omer. It represents neo-romanesque style.

Nożyk Synagogue was one of 5 biggest synagogues in entire Warsaw before WW2. The building was a bit renovated and expanded in 1923.

Under Nazi-German occupation closed and turned to a stable, then reopened within borders of a Small Jewish Ghetto, later after liquidation of the Small Ghetto closed again. Hit seriously during an uprising in 1944, but its construction survived intact.

Used by the Jewish community again since 1945, then repaired a bit in 1950s, until the next closing in 1968.

The current look of the synagogue comes from a restoration that took place between 1977 and 1983, when the original look of the building was brought back.
A new "expansion" was built at the back of the synagogue then. It’s so ugly though, I’ve decided not to recreate it.

Today, this Orthodox synagogue hosts everday prayers, celebrations of Jewish holidays, ecumenical prayers at special occasions etc. etc.

Size 4×5, monument lvl 4.
