Description:

The thirteenth High School in my ongoing collection of schools from Toronto.

This High School opened in 1966 as a vocational school in the west end of the old City of Toronto. The school was designed by "Allward & Gouinlock" and was closed in 1995 due to low enrollment, after which the school became an Alternative School housing the Aboriginal Education Centre. The building was also leased out to many tenants over its history including the "Royal Conservatory of Music" while its old location was being renovated, and the "Conseil scolaire Viamonde" (French School Board) who used it to house the overflow of students from a nearby school until the board purchased a new larger facility. The school had developed a bad reputation into the 80’s and 90’s when gang activity was commonplace around the school and multiple violent incidents occurred. The school was has demolished in 2019 and its land is set to be the sight of a new High school to replace and old one nearby.

The facility features 25 standard classrooms, 7 Science Labs, 6 Tech/Trades classes, Auditorium (with Balcony), double Gymnasium, Cafeteria, and Library
