Description:
Nördlinger Ries

One Click Collection

History

The Nördlinger Ries is a meteorite impact crater, formed around 15 million years ago and lies in the city triangle Nuremberg – Stuttgart – Munich. The Ries is one of the best preserved large impact craters on earth.

The Nördlinger Ries is almost circular (diameter about 20-24 kilometers). The surface area is 348km². The crater is clearly visible only from the air due to its size and the strong weathering. From the ground, the crater rim appears as a wooded ridge all around on the horizon. Today’s crater floor, in which there are no major elevations in contrast to the adjacent hilly Alb landscape, is located about 100 to 150 meters below the surrounding plateaus of the Alb.

Map

Since the crater is too big for a 1:1 scale, this map is 1:2, but still based on a terrain.party height map. Designed for players who like to play with vanilla rules, nothing special was used or is mandatory. Just a few things to subscribe – see one click collection above. Suitable to play with 9 or 25 tiles.

No heavy road network is in place – it’s up to you to connect the districts of your city. A lot of fertile land is inside the crater, some ore resources are around in the hills. Someone was already trying to set up a timber business – for some reason that did not work…

Map theme is SCT-HOMECOMING, color correction Owl’s Cinematic HD v1 – used for the screenshots above. But feel free to use anything else you like more.

Connections:
– 3 highway (one is under construction…)
– 2 railway
– 2 plane
– no shipping

Please let me know what you think about this map (yes, it’s my first map…).
