Student Dorm, Paderborn
Paderborn. Angled student dormitory built in 2018. It consists of two buildings that are connected by a glass bridge. The building has four floors plus a staggered floor. The connecting bridge loosens up the building and increases transparency and visual relationships through the building to the opposite side of the street.
The building was commissioned by a local housing association. The 90 apartments are furnished, uniformly equipped. Next to the bridge, the uniform green curtains give the building an individual identity.
The light illumination gives an authentic impression of the nightly room lighting. Some corridors illuminate the nighttime security lighting. The bridge is permanently illuminated.
My motivation for this building complex is based on the lack of modern, acute-angled buildings. The glass bridge enables transparency and permeability. The sun protection of the staggered floor enables an interesting shadow play on the facade.
