The "Eighty Years Monument of Japanese Immigration" was created by an order from the Municipal Commission of São Paulo, for the Celebrations of the 80th Anniversary of Japanese Immigration, by the plastic artist Tomie Ohtake.
The work, with its great proportions, was inaugurated on November 10, 1988, and soon became one of the postcards of the city.
