Description:

La Crosse is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of La Crosse County.
Positioned alongside the Mississippi River Delta, La Crosse is the largest city on Wisconsin’s western border. La Crosse’s estimated population in 2018 was 51,567. The city forms the core of and is the principal city in the La Crosse Metropolitan Area, which includes all of La Crosse County and Houston County, Minnesota, for a population of 135,298.

This is my first attempt to create a gameplay map. It’s not really a 1:1 but rather an inspired-by rebuild of this cosy city and its immediate surroundings. The main highway (Interstate 90 which crosses the map), its intersections, the US Highway 53 branch into Onalaska and the main local roads have been build as accurately as possible, using the Overlayer mod. Other parts however range from pretty close (such as the Neshonoc Lake, which I enlarged and elevated to create waterflow for the La Crosse River) to completely made up (pretty much the whole the railway layout). All these in order to – I hope – compensate a couple of shortcomings in the design and increase playability.

It is VITAL to subscribe to all items in the associated One-Click Collection, for various reasons (no vanilla trees; Avanya’s fantastic Water Pumping Station to solve the pretty much impossible water access from the starting square, the ‘mirrored’ remake of the Mississippi River Bridge, etc…)
Beyond that I strongly recommend using 81 Tiles Mod (to get to all the resources and sites) and TM:PE (to smoothen out traffic flow)

Some features:

– +/- 230k trees (all custom)
– 1 plane route (going over French Island, where the regional airport is situated IRL)
– 1 shipping route (following the main Mississippi river arm, branching off into two of the connected lakes, Lake Onalaska and Target Lake).
– Abundant Road and Train connections (hence the requirement for the Unlimited Outside Connections mod)
– All resources available, fishing is defaulted (I don’t own Sunset Harbor)
– Clean water is provided by the aforementioned Water Pumping Station. This I built in because of the starting tile having only the rather small La Crosse river running through it and I didn’t want to enlarge that; well hey – consider it a lock-down gift 😉

Hope you enjoy it!
