Description:

Welcome to Regal Hills!

This map is a complete overhaul of the base-game map, Regal Hills. This is actually a scenario map that you all may know by the name of MT Fix The Traffic. The old map came with the game purchase, but I was never intrigued by the vanilla maps, so I decided to remaster every single one.

This map requires Mass Transit because I honestly dislike having a 3-lane highway running through desolate regions…
I will not make a DLC-free version, sorry folks =(
Get Mass Transit anyways, you’re missing out!

Some Info

The map name may be familiar to those of you who played Fix The Traffic scenario. Anybody remember how atrocious that landscape was? I could not help myself but to remaster the whole map. Minus the center 9 tiles, the mountains on the edges of the map are generally the same as the old map, but just tuned up to my standards. The tiny streams in the old map have been beefed up to large creeks and small rivers. I decided to place dams to help control the water physics, but still ended up using large water sources to keep the outflow steady; you won’t notice them unless you have mods or edit the map in the editor, or if you remove the dams (I discourage that).

The dams produce anywhere from 112-144 MegaWatts of power that is distributed to the starting tile. You’ll have to excuse the long power lines for that, but hey, it’s free power!

Going back on the remastered landscape, the oceans and bays are very similar to their old vanilla looks. The only thing I changed about them was I raised the sea level to the nearest 5 digit value, and lowered the sea floor to near zero to give it some depth. I try to keep the water features the same in the remakes to help give a perspective on how much the map has changed.

[NOTES:]

This map can be played with the 25 vanilla tiles, but can also be played with all 81 map tiles. All of the industry resources are located within the 25 tile region. Except for a few areas, the outer tiles aren’t favorable for expansive development, but rather small towns and villages.

I recommend grabbing the custom theme to this map Canada Summer. This theme is very similar to the Switzerland Theme. The only textures I changed were the rocks, grass, and sand. I really wanted to have a high-alpine theme in this map to really give the mountains some height and I am pleased with the result.
This map can be played without the theme, you’ll just see a bit of sand up on top of the highest mountains! It’s not too distracting, I’ve looked at it with the vanilla European theme.

To BonBonB, if you’re reading this buddy, you’ll have to excuse those arrows merging on the highways. I am with you on that front, but with this being a completely vanilla map, it is intended for vanilla players and play-styles. Henceforth, the highway ramps will have arrows to help with the merging traffic, as it is an issue among many players.

I did build this map with my custom theme, but I saved and uploaded the map with the default theme. You will have to subscribe to the theme to see the results above. I provided a pic to give you a snippet of the vanilla theme for this map.
