Hello, your marinas gonna look fancy with this new statue so enjoy it.
Every year, a new work of art takes its place at the open-air Šilingrák Gallery on Šilingrovo Náměstí. For the first time in three years, a new artist has been given the opportunity to showcase his art in the ‘gallery’. Last year, a pack of cats was replaced with a new sharks statue that is part of the international Sculpture Line festival, which originated in the Czech Republic. The preceding three statues at “Galerie Šilingrák” were all groups of predatory animals: first came a flock of predatory birds, followed by a pack of predatory cats, which were replaced last year with a school of sharks.
The author of this beauty is Michal Gabriel, sculptor and university teacher, ex-dean of Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. Graduated from SUPŠ and AVU in Prague, in 1987 co-established the famous informal art group Tvrdohlaví. Since 1998, Michal has been working as senior lecturer at Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno and teaches at UMPRUM in Prague. In 1995, he was awarded the prestigious Jindřich Chalupecký award. In 2009, Michal was appointed a professor.
