Hong Kong Tram – 香港電車 (Cantonese Yale: hūeng gǒng dìn chē)
Of the many trams in the fleet of Hong Kong Tramways, tram number 120 is the only tram that retains the 5th-generation tram design. The original tram no.120 is built in 1949 and served till the late 1980s. Because of the age of the vehicle, it had to be dismentled and rebuild. To preserve the tramway’s heritage, instead of modernizing the vehicle, the tram has been restored back to it’s 1949 appearance.
The tram was painted with classic green color, the tungsten lamp, rattan seats, wooden windows and fenders are preserved along with the tramcar’s British control system. The side of tram was also covered with different advertisement form classic local "vintage" brands, including the Wong To Yik medicinal oil. Being the one and only heritage tram in Hong Kong, it is considered good luck to encounter it on the streets.
