Christchurch, NZ Remastered
Christchurch, located on New Zealand’s South Island, is a captivating city with a rich history. Founded in 1850 by English settlers, it quickly became known as the "Garden City" for its abundant parks and green spaces. The city is situated on the Canterbury Plains, which are crisscrossed by several rivers and fed by underground aquifers.
This is a remastered version of the first map I made in Cities Skylines of my hometown. It is an overall simple map with only a few custom assets. As in real life, this map is very flat with only the port hills in the south. If you like building flat cities, then this is the map for you. (Watch out for Tsunamis!)
Main changes from the original version:
– More polish on the terrain and more detailed farming areas and forests.
– More realistic and functioning main water ways. Some larger water sources are added to the port hills to make the rivers flow correctly. These are very small streams in the real world, but it was the only way to get around the limitations of the game engine and water physics. There are many more smaller streams across the city that could not be implemented.
– Highways have been re-done and more have been added. Some main roads are converted into highways to make a more complete road network and to make the map more playable.
– I used a smaller area so it is closer to a 1:1 ratio.
I recommend playing this map with either 25 or 81 tiles mod. As detailed areas are sparse across a flat plane it may be hard with only 9 tiles from the start square. The theme in the screenshots was a custom theme made with theme mixer. Use whatever theme makes you feel good.
