Description:

August 2024 Update:

High-resolution overlay is available here, assuming Steam is okay with me posting a link to Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dpcw73bpgvtrjgkl34g31/Annapolis-overlay.png?rlkey=4qx9fa6tll64hx36uoravwrbu&st=tyobs4dy&dl=0 (181 MB)

I think the trees collection is working now?

June 2024 Update:

I’ve reloaded the map, fixed it so it requires no mods save one, replaced the trees, taken a few extra preview images, and also correctly extended a road from the highway into the starting tile.

To see all the trees you see in the preview images, you MUST change Tree Control tree limit to 786k+ trees.

Enjoy!

All of the assets and mods used to make this map are available here. Most of these things many of you likely already have:
* Network Extensions 2 Road Replacement Complete List
* Vanilla+ Roads
* Tree Control 1.0
* Tiny Highways since many of the highways in the area don’t have the wide shoulders in vanilla roads or the above assets.

Without these assets, there will be gaps in the highway from the outside connection. There aren’t very many roads used from these collections, but I did double-check with RON that what I used in the map are all in these collections. (RON is not required to load the map.)

And then I made a collection of the small number of workshop trees I used:

Finally, 81 Tiles 2 is recommended so you can build to the edges in Cape St Claire, Arundel on the Bay, and by the Renaissance Fair.

Original description:

This map of Annapolis, MD, was made by someone who lived there for several years and enjoyed visiting most locations in this area. This is a 1:1 scale recreation, finely modeled. The area spans from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Sandy Point State Park in the east, to the interchange of I-97 and Route 50 in the west. And includes Anne Arundel Community College in the north, to Thomas Point Park in the south. The central, starting tile includes historic downtown Annapolis, Main Street, and Ego Alley. West Street extends from the highway into the starting tile.

Other points and areas of interest in the area include the Naval Academy, Navy-Marine Corps Stadium, Parole, Westfields Mall, Harbor Center, B&A Trail, Fishing Creek Farms, the solar farm off Defense Highway, Cape St. Clair, Arnold, Eastport, Arundel on the Bay, Edgewater, and the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Besides the Chesapeake Bay, the map also features the Severn River, South River, Spa Creek, Fishing Creek, Church Creek, Crab Creek, Weems Creek, Whitehall Bay, and a little of the Magothy River.

The terrain was imported with a high-resolution height map, and the entire coastline was meticulously edited with a 2GB incredibly high resolution composite satellite image overlay. Route 50 and I-97 were carefully placed using the image overlay, complete with detailed highway interchanges, exit ramps, and correct lanes. The surface roads just beyond the highways were also designed to match the real-world exits. Even the trees were carefully placed according to 2022 data.

One non-real-world concession was made, with the historic B&O extension, the Annapolis & Baltimore Short Line, coming down the B&A Trail as it was originally laid, then over the Severn River and into downtown Annapolis. For a 21st century Annapolis, delete the rail line.

I hope you enjoy creating on the Annapolis map as I enjoyed making it and living there!

Image overlay not included, sorry. The file is like 100x too big to upload to Steam.

Requires Vanilla+ Roads https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2440145178
Requires BIG Urban Roads https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2252521734 (Update: No longer requires this collection)

Highly advised to have Intersection Marking Tool because all highways, lanes, offramps, and onramps are marked accurately!

Link to the first version, now outdated, and with errors from old mods.
