Konradsberg Mental Hospital was inaugurated in 1861 as Sweden’s first purpose-built psychiatric facility. Designed to embody progressive ideals of humane care, its grand, castle-like architecture and secluded setting reflected both ambition and control. For over a century, it housed patients with severe mental illness. Over the years, Konradsberg gained a somewhat eerie reputation – sometimes referred to as a haunted place – fueled by its imposing appearance and the stigma surrounding mental institutions.
The hospital closed in the late 20th century, and today the buildings are used by various schools.
The buildings are displayed in the 3D-viewer with a 5m gap between them.
