Description:
Vehicle information

Pontiac originally introduced the Catalina name as trim level for the Star chief and Chieftain models early in 1950. By 1959 Pontiac dropped the Chieftain and Star Chief name and demoted the models to middle status while renaming it to the Catalina. Early on the Catalina was the lowest priced full sized Pontiac, and priced below the Chevrolet Impala, Buick LeSabre and Oldsmobile 88. By the mid 60s the Catalina was the third best selling full sized car behind the Chevrolet Impala, and the Ford Galaxie 500. At this point the Catalina’s had gone through many restyling’s, refreshes, and updates. The Catalina was offered with quite a variety of engine options as well as transmission options in its third generation. Rating anywhere from 290 hp to 376 hp, depending on what configuration of engine and transmission you ordered. From 1965 to 1970 the third generation of the Catalina sold roughly 1,380,000 cars. Although not besting the Chevrolet Impala with a record of around 5 million produced and sold.
