One of the attractions of Vladivostok is the Tokarevsky lighthouse at Cape Egersheld. The lighthouse is located on the Tokarevskaya cat, which departs from the Tokarevsky cape located on the Shkot peninsula, better known as Egersheld. Named after the cape of the same name, described in 1862 – 1863. members of the expedition under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel KFSh V.M. Babkina. At the same time V.M. Babkin by the name of his friend KFSh captain M.Ya. Tokarevsky.
The Tokarevskaya cat, on which the lighthouse is located, has a length of 750 meters and is a narrow rocky braid, created artificially. Previously, Tokarevsky lighthouse with Cape Egersheld was connected by a wooden bridge, from which now only protruding pieces of rusty pipes remained.
The Tokarevsky lighthouse is of great importance in ensuring the navigational safety of navigation of ships heading to the port of Vladivostok from the Amur Bay.
Tokarevsky lighthouse on the cape – Egersheld – is a favorite resting place for both guests and residents of Vladivostok. The lighthouse is one of the places where you can enjoy both sunset and sunrise, from here you can also enjoy a beautiful view of the city of Vladivostok, Russky Island and the bridge connecting them.
Tokarevsky lighthouse was founded in 1876. At the end of the 18th century, with the beginning of active navigation in the port of Vladivostok, it became necessary to protect Tokarevsky’s cat, which is dangerous for navigation. Initially, a luminous sign was installed on the site of the current lighthouse, in 1910 a tower was built, which has survived to the present day. The lighthouse tower is stone, round, 11.9 m high, and stands on an octagonal foundation. The range of the beacon’s fire is 12 miles. The main fire is red, the backup fire is white.
