Eusebiuskerk
The Sint-Eusebiuskerk is the largest church in the Dutch city of Arnhem. According to Wikipedia the origins of the building date back to the 9th century, though construction of the current gothic church began in 1452 and took about a century to finish. Since then a lot of modifications have been made to the church that reflect different periods of history.
First major modification came with the reformation, in which the church (in 1578) became protestant. Which mainly changed the interior of the church. Second major change came with a strike of lightning which caused a large part of the church to burn down in 1633. Among the changes made in the reconstruction was the addition of a roof lantern on top of the tower, which made the church a lot higher. New changes to the church came with the second world war. As a consequence of which the church was almost completely destroyed. During the period after the second world war, known in the Netherlands as the ‘wederopbouw’ (roughly translated to: period of reconstruction) it was decided to rebuild the church and a newly designed roof lantern was added to the church. Final changes to the church came with the large renovation of the church in the period between 2007 and 2022. Among other things new entrances, glass balconies (not included in this model), and new ornaments were added.

On a personal note I consider this asset a ‘final thesis’ in my quest of learning to make 3D models for Cities Skylines. Though there is still a lot to learn I consider myself to have reached at least a decent (basic) skill with the ability to recreate this model. A big thanks to the youtube series of Ronyx69 and Comrade Intense. They really helped figuring out how to best make assets for CS1!
