Rudolf’s Poffertjeskraam
Commercial low
A poffertjeskraam ("Dutch pancake stall") of my own design.
Chairs and tables not included, decorate as you wish. I used these.
"Poffertjes are small, fluffy Dutch pancakes traditionally served with powdered sugar and a knob of butter. They are a true classic at fairs, markets, and winter events in the Netherlands.
What makes poffertjes special? They are smaller and thicker than regular pancakes, baked in a special pan with small round indentations, and the batter usually contains buckwheat flour in addition to wheat flour, giving them a slightly nutty flavor. Yeast or baking powder makes them extra light and airy.
Poffertjes have existed since the 18th century and are believed to have originated in monasteries in the Netherlands. Today, they are inseparably linked with typical Dutch treats, just like stroopwafels and oliebollen.
How do you eat them? Traditionally with powdered sugar and butter. You’ll also find variations topped with strawberries and whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and Liqueur (for festive occasions)."
