Adolf Fredriks kyrka
Unique building: Adolf-Fredriks-kyrka
Adolf Fredrik’s Church in central Stockholm was inaugurated in 1774 and named after King Adolf Fredrik. Through his mother, he was descended from the Vasa dynasty and related to Princess Katarina, a granddaughter of King Gustav Vasa. He died in 1771 and is popularly remembered for the story that he passed away after overindulging in semlor, a tale that has become part of Swedish folklore.
The church stands along a busy city street, its churchyard forming a calm space amid the surrounding traffic and urban life.
