1963 Chevrolet Corvette C2
A fastback rear end, long hood, and split rear windows, this iconic corvette can be identified from any angle. The affectionately named "Sting-Ray" was first introduced to the public in 1962; it introduced a brand new chassis and better brakes with some new styling. All of which was needed if Chevy wanted to beat the European market for the sport car sector in America; and even win in racing divisions across the globe. Although we wont get into the racing background bit.
1963 was the first year to introduce the rear split window, independent rear suspension, and disc brakes. Its aggressive styling was a first as well. It featured hidden headlights but kept its signature swooping interior dash from previous years. Offered in the new C2’s were the 327 cu-in v-8 engines from the last generations corvettes, producing up to 360 hp with fuel injection. you could get the car with three speed manual, 4 speed manual, or a 2 speed automatic. You could even get air conditioning for the first time! What you couldn’t get was very good access to the trunk, as there was no opening and had to go through the doors.
