Beijing South Railway Station is also known as South Railway Station and the former Yongding Gate Railway Station,which is the third largest station following Beijing West Railway Station and Beijing Railway Station according to passenger volume. In the past located in Yongwaichehzhan Road, Congwen Gate, Beijing, its new address is 12 Yongwai Street, Fengtai District, Beijing. Directly administrated by Beijing Railway Bureau, it is a top level station. By the year of 2006, the station offers services of way trains and short-and-medium distance transportation. Since 10th May, 2006, this station had been closed for expansion and reconstruction which started on 28th Jan., 2007, the New Year’s Eve. On the first day of August 2008, the station was put into use, serving as the starting station of Beijing-Tianjin trains and Beijing-Shanghai special railways for passenger as well as responsible for the rail motor transportation of East China.
