Munich Tram Shelter #2 Ostfriedhof
This historic building served as a station building and tram shelter in the German city of Munich (München). Originally constructed in 1910, it functioned as the terminus building at the eastern end of Munich’s tram network at Ostfriedhof station. As the system expanded, the station developed into an important tram hub at the city’s eastern cemetery, from which the station derives its name.
The original building contained a waiting room, the station master’s office, a kiosk, public toilets, and a cellar. It was damaged during the war and was replaced by a simpler, open-sided shelter with an integrated kiosk. This replacement structure was subsequently demolished during the modernization of the tram network in the 1990s. Today, the site is occupied by a utilitarian service building that houses a small and popular Italian café.
