3D Numbers & Letters PROCEDURAL 36 assets
3D Numbers & Letters by pauljchris
Full set of 3D numbers ( 0-9) and Letters ( A-Z) to enable numeric or alphabetic detailing anywhere in the game world from custom road markings all the way up to Hollywood type hilside signs. As procedurals, all digits are fully scaleable, deformable and rotatable to your requirements.
IMPORTANT You must subscribe to the Procedural objects mod before downloading this asset or the 3D letters will not be accessible within your game. Before using the Procedural assets mod it is highly recommended to watch a short video by the author of the mod in order to familiarize yourself with the controls for manipulating procedural objects when in the game. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1094334744
Once you have subscribed to the procedural objects mod and this asset pack, use the mod Find It and type "letter" or "number" into the search box to locate the models. When you locate them, click on the one you want so it appears on the cursor tip in the game world but do not place it in the world. Instead press Shift + P and it will turn into a procedural object and open the menu.
No textures will be found be default, the model will default to pure white showing 0 textures. If you want textures, then create them as a 64 x 64 pixel solid colour bit map for each desired colour in any image software such as Paint and them place them in the procedural objects texture folder.
NB There are NO LODS with procedural objects. Instead performance is controlled by a render distance slider which is set for each object when first placed in the game world. This controls the distance when the object disappears and is no longer drawn by the engine. For these letters and numbers , set the number proportional to the size of the digit and how far away you wish it to be visible from .
Model specs
Variable triangle counts ranging from 16 to 500 depending upon the complexity of the letter or number. No textures provided, default is pure white but you can change this to any colour(s) you like by saving a small 64 x 64 plain colour bitmap into the textures folder within your local procedural objects mod folder. One bitmap required for every colour variant that you need.
Placement
Models are 3d to enable accurate placement in the 3D world. It is recommended to make any desired adjustments to the shape while the model is large, then scale it down or up according to your needs , then manouve it into position using the mod controls. When placing on flat surfaces such as roads or the sides of buildings, use fine adjustments by holding SHIFT and ALT so that the 3D model is as flush to the surface as you can make it without Z fighting or the model disappearing.
Some of the linear letters can be adapted for other uses. For example the Letter I can be infinitely expanded to create a long white line in place of a lot of smaller line assets. Use your imagination and creativity. Bear in mind that procedural assets to not count against the prop count , so if your computer can handle it and you are able to replace a lot of assets with one procedural one you will gain performance.
