Description:

A fuel hydrant truck for large airports. These trucks contain fuel pumps which connect to fuel lines that run under the ramp. These are also sometimes referred to as pump trucks.

This model contains a fairly high tri count at 1828 Tris (due to the pump and hose details) and a 512×512 texture, as well as a LOD with 272 Tris and a 64×64 texture.

I tried to keep the tri count down as much as possible, however, these trucks typically have all of their machinery exposed, which requires tris to represent correctly.

This workshop item contains 3 assets:

  • HydrantTruck_Sto – The stored version of the truck (how it would be parked, or the model for when it is driving from place to place).
  • HydrantTruck_A32XB757 – A version with the hoses extended for fueling an Airbus A32X or a 757.
  • HydrantTruck_B777 – A version with the hoses extended for fueling a 777 (should also work for other large aircraft).

A few things to note about this model / the truck it is based on:

  • In all of the references that I could find, this specific truck model only fueld on the Right-hand side of the aircraft. This was done by parking near the right engine, in the same direction as the aircraft, and pointed slightly away from the engine (to line up with the leading edge of the wing).
  • I don’t think this truck can be used to fuel smaller aircraft such as the E and C series planes. Though that might be what the hose in the rear is for (I couldn’t find a manual, so I am not sure).
  • Most plane stands at large airports have multiple fuel ports on both sides of the aircraft, usually around where the engine of a parked aircraft would sit.
  • The majority of larger aircraft (most likely all of them), have fueling ports just behing the leading edge of the wing shortly after the engine (see the included screenshots).
