The statue inspired by folk legend about a battle between shark and crocodile in territorial dispute, both claim river delta / estuary as part of their domain.
"Inspired by Sura (shark) and Baya (crocodile) statue located in Surabaya city, East Java, Indonesia. Historically, the place was named from conflict between Mongols expeditionary forces and local forces of Majapahit in 1293. Depicted as white shark (invader) and crocodile (defender)."
