Trolley Bus
Have I mentioned that I love buses? This is a bus that looks a bit like an old-fashioned tram/streetcar.
The design is based on the buses that were, until recently, part of my hometown’s transit system. The most likely model is a Dupont Industries Champlain 1608[en.wikipedia.org], which was made by a Quebec company of the same name.
Mesh info
Main: 1,404 tris.
Lod: 42 tris
Textures 1024 and 128. All maps required are there. Blinkers and all. As you can see above, these vehicles will change colour as you modify the colour of your lines.
Asset stats
This is a straight up replacement for the vanilla bus. No DLC or downloads required. Passenger capacity is 30. Those of you who are into modding your transport lines probably already know the appropriate mods to change the relevant values in-game.
The ‘Trolley’ in the name doesn’t imply that it functions in any way like a tram in this game. It’s just visually styled to look like an old-fashioned streetcar. This is a bus. No more, no less.
About
So, the idea here was to make a custom bus that was a bit more suitable for transit systems with small town sensibilities, or maybe for any of you who are building a tourism-focused area. In my town, irl, when the municipality finally moved ahead on a public transit system, the company that was to run the system rolled out a fleet of vehicles that looked a lot like this. Most have since been decommissioned, but it was a nice touch. The logo you see, or livery I guess, is derivative.
Here’s[princeedwardtours.com] a closer look at one of the buses from a sightseeing website from my province. This image and one other from the same site are where this asset comes from.
As this is the first vehicle I’ve posted, I have no idea what to expect with respect to glitches and whatnot. I’ve tested it enough to feel comfortable posting it. Let me know if you see any odd behaviour. There is an issue with C:S’s vanilla bus template with respect to file size and I had to use a Workshop template here. It will behave as I’ve posted above though.
So thanks. Enjoy!
