Description:
Monaco: Casino de Monté Carlo & Opera House

This is the iconic Casino de Monté Carlo and Salle Garnier Opera House building in Monaco.

This has been created for ‘Project: Monaco’, a Cities: Skylines community YouTube project by PugGaming recreating the principality of Monaco with accurate recreations of the buildings and landscape to showcase and inspire users and creators to recreate (and improve) the cities we live in.

The building consists of two main sections, the ‘Casino & Opera House’ and the large later addition of the ‘Gaming Rooms’.

The first gaming room opened its doors in 1856 and several extensions have been added since 1898. The real gem of the Casino de Monte-Carlo is the Salle Garnier Opera House, inaugurated in 1879 and built by Charles Garnier, the architect who designed the Paris Opera House. Recently restored, the Salle Garnier is one of Monaco’s masterpieces showing the extravagance and audacity characterising the construction of the Casino de Monte-Carlo.

The asset is made up of eight sub-buildings.
1. Casino de Monté Carlo
2. Salle Garnier Opera House
3. Lecture Rooms
4. Moorish Rooms
5. Trente-et-Quarante Gaming Room
6. Salle des Américains
7. Pavillion Rooms
8. East Wing Glass

The actual building is built into the hillside and therefore the Opera House entrance, Lecture Room ’boutique’ and Casino entrance are higher up than the Opera House facade. The asset has been created so that the ground will not flatten as it’s sunk into ground using the ‘Move It’ mod allowing replication of the real landscape. It’s tricky, but possible, to landscape the ground to fit the correct levels of the entrances. I have provided a ground level guide in the images above to help.

You will notice the main entrance to the casino is at ground level so you will need to use the landscaping tool to reveal the other sections.
This asset uses my Restaurant Table Pack created specifically for this project (as you will see on the menu).

Geometry

Casino
Model: 65,523 tris
LOD: 952 tris
In-game footprint: 7 x 21 units

Textures

Each sub-building has 2048 x 2048 textures with a 256 LOD.

The tri-count is high and the textures large, but I think it’s worth it. Just don’t plop more than one!

This asset has textures and LODs with normals, specular and illumination maps.

The asset can be found in the ‘Monument Level 1’ tab. If you find the icons are missing in the game menu then unsubscribe from the Improved Assets Icons Mod.

This is one of a set of assets I’ve created for the ‘Place de Casino’ square in Monaco.
Also available are:
‘Monaco: Hotel de Paris Monté Carlo’
‘Monaco: Café de Paris Monté Carlo’
‘Monaco: Place de Casino Sky Mirror’
‘Monaco: Casino & Opera House Prop Pack’.
‘Restaurant Table & Chairs Pack’

This asset is intended to be use with the official Project Monaco Map and Theme.
