Description:

This is a 1:1 scale reproduction of the island of Lakeba.

Lakeba is a small tropical island that is part of the Lau Islands in Fiji. It’s pronounced "La-kem-ba". In real life Lakeba has a population of about two thousand across eight villages, as well as a small airport. As with most real life Cities: Skylines map, the terrain is mostly raw data from terrain.party, with small modifications for gameplay or aesthetics.

So why did I create a map out of this obscure Fijan Island? Simple: Its nearly 60 square kilometer area fits perfectly in the 100 square kilometer grid Cities: Skylines is played in, meaning the entire island can potentially be played on. However, to cover the whole island, you will have to use the full grid, so this map is best played with all 25 tiles unlocked. It’s also relatively flat for an island, maximizing the amount of usable space.

This map is excellent for eye candy as well as functionality; the coasts are lined with sandy beaches and the island interior is thickly forested with fertile soil and rolling hills, with large ore deposits in the center. Plus, every part of the coast has shipping lane access — it is an island, after all. However, you only have one outside connection for both rail and road; a single set of bridges stretching into your starting title from the East – don’t let that get bottlenecked.

A word of warning, though; there are over 116,000 trees on this island, over halfway to the hard 250,000 limit. Placing roads and buildings over trees doesn’t delete them, and they will count to your total. If you want to have the maximum number of trees, you’ll have to use the bulldozer.

Have Fun!
