UK Road Project: Small Roads Pack

All assets created for this project have been put together in the ‘UK Road Project Collected’ collection.

Welcome to the UK Road Project. This pack is one in a series that recreates UK roads as closely as the game will allow.

A map theme ‘UK Road Project: Map Theme’ has been created to improve the road and pavement textures and give them a more UK look. Other elements of the theme have also been ‘improved’ to give a more polished overall look. The theme doesn’t have to be used but I highly recommend that it is for the complete experience. The road markings may not appear correctly with other themes.

Alternatively, now that the fantastic Theme Mixer 2 mod has been updated textures that work really well are the Upward Road Surface from Arnold J Rimmer’s Laviante 1.41 – Map Theme, and the Grass and Ruined from Ronyx69’s Seychelles Map Theme.

All roads have custom road markings, signs and props that appear automatically depending on context and junction settings. These include UK signs, traffic lights, roadside props and street lights. These assets are available in the ‘UK Road Project Revived: Essential Props’ pack. It is important to subscribe to this pack for the roads to appear correctly.

To activate ‘Give Way’ and ‘Traffic Lights’ at junctions set either ‘Stop’ or ‘Traffic Lights’ in the ‘Traffic Routes’ ‘Junctions’ info panel.

For those who wish to detail the roads with the greatest realism additional prop packs are available with many of the UK road signs, road markings and props that don’t automatically appear. See below!

For any props added manually I recommend using the Move It! and Prop Line Tool mods.

As the roads vary in width some buildings may spawn with a gap to the road. I recommend using the Move It! mod to bring them closer to the pavement. To have a realistic variation in road widths this is unavoidable, sorry!

I have aimed to keep the file sizes as small as possible but in order to give you the best UK roads the size may appear large. However, the roads share textures allowing the Loading Screen Mod to share them in game and therefore reducing the load on your computer.

10. 2 Lane, 2 Way, 11m: No Parking Tree Lined
11. 2 Lane, 2 Way, 15m: No Parking with Bike Lanes
12. 2 Lane, 2 Way, 15m: Parking
13. 2 Lane, 2 Way, 15m: Parking (Suburban)
14. 3 Lane, 2 Way, 14m: No Parking Asymmetric with Grass Verge

I have included ‘Suburban’ versions of some roads that don’t contain parking markings and meters or centre lines. This will help with the realism of suburban areas.

The roundabout roads are specifically for creating realistic roundabouts (duh!). They don’t have zoning, road signs, props or pedestrians on the inner pavement. They do have street lights and chevron signs in the middle.

The Tree Lined road uses the wonderfully named ‘Tree with leaves’, but I strongly suggest replacing these with better non-vanilla alternatives. I recommend using one of Pdelmos’s Leafy Tree Set.

All files in this pack use the same naming structure to speed up ‘Find It’ searches.

So, for example, a search for ‘UKR SR 2W’ will find all the two way small roads.

These roads have been created to allow both left and right hand drive roads in your cities. As they are UK roads I recommend using right hand drive, but I would, wouldn’t I!
