Description
Surgut, a city in Russia’s Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, is arguably one of the oldest settlements in Siberia. Nowadays, it is informally known as "Russia’s Oil Capital," because of its dependence on oil production. The city also boasts some of the world’s largest power plants. The centerpiece of this map is the Ob River, which enters the map near the Surgut Bridge (the longest single-tower cable-stayed bridge in the world). Despite its geographic location in Western Siberia, Surgut is a quintessential port town. If you ever wanted to recreate an industrial Soviet city, this is for you!
