Description:

The twelfth High School in my ongoing collection of Schools from Toronto.

This school opened in 1972 and was designed by "Fairfield and Dubois" and was closed in 2017. This school was an alternative school that was for recent immigrants and refugees and as such was nicknamed "Newcomer High". The school offered programs meant to help those new to Canada adapt and prepare for normal High School, as such the school offered various specialized ESL and other such courses. Students would spend between 1 to 3 semesters at the school (depending on learning proficiency) before being sent to their normal area High School to continue there education. The school was closed in 2017 and its students and programs relocated to another nearby high school. The facility was purchased by the "Conseil scolaire Viamonde" (French Language School Board) who will renovate the building to bring it up to modern standards; from there the school will be the fourth French High school in Toronto.

The facility is quite small for a High School featuring 15 standard classrooms, 4 science labs, double Gymnasium, Cafeteria with stage, and a Library.
