The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, often referred to as The Guggenheim, is an art museum located on Fifth Avenue, New York. It is the permanent home of a continuously expanding collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early Modern, and contemporary art and also features special exhibitions throughout the year. The museum was established by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in 1939 and moved to its current building, a landmark work of 20th-century architecture designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1959.
The cylindrical building, wider at the top than at the bottom, was conceived as a "temple of the spirit". Its unique ramp gallery extends up from ground level in a long, continuous spiral along the outer edges of the building to end just under the ceiling skylight. The building underwent extensive expansion and renovations in 1992 when an adjoining tower was built.
The museum’s collection has grown over eight decades and is founded upon several important private collections, beginning with that of Solomon R. Guggenheim. The collection is shared with sister museums in Bilbao, Spain and elsewhere. In 2013, nearly 1.2 million people visited the museum, and it hosted the most popular exhibition in New York City.
The interior of this building is as important to the design as the exterior so I have recreated most of its important elements. All glass is transparent and I’ve endeavoured to recreate as much of the interior as the game will allow so you can experience the building as intended. The main gallery includes many pieces of art and the iconic spiral floors. I’ve recreated other sections like the café and the souvenir shop for further realism.
Creating the lighting for this amazing building was a challenge which forced me to create new props that allow the building to have many more lights than allowed by the game.
The pack includes props that add up to 120 lights to all areas such as the gallery, the cafe section, the tower plus additional spot lights. They use bespoke low level and time dependent lighting effects which require the ‘Custom Effect Loader’ mod by Boformer.
If you want the lighting to appear, and look as good as I’ve designed it to look, you will need to subscribe to this mod.
