About the building:
The Blackstone Apartments were constructed in 1915 in just south of Downtown Minneapolis, in the Stevens Square neighborhood. The building is built in a style that is used on many of the 3 and a half story apartment buildings around the park. Abbott Hospital (a few blocks away, and on the NRHP itself) was constructed in 1910 and a surge of apartment buildings followed. It was originally inhabited by middle class workers before the construction of Interstate 94 which cut off the neighborhood from Downtown.
It is a contributing property to the Stevens Square Historic District and was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1993.
