Wilhelmsheim Center, Parking Garage with Shops
Wilhelmsheim Center, Parking Garage with Shops
Closed parking garage with two shops on the ground floor. On the side there are stairwells, delivery and the entrance to the parking garage.
Architecture and facade construction and design are inspired by several shopping centers and retail properties from Berlin, Nuremberg and Passau. In its conception, however, represents its own design.. The size of the facade elements reflects the size of the surrounding buildings. The colors of the tiles correspond to the colors of the surrounding buildings.
My motivation was firstly to create a shopping center with parking spaces (here: separate parking garage) for a convenient location. Second, in reality it is usually the case that the architecture of a new building corresponds to its immediate surroundings. In the immediate vicinity of buildings of particular historical importance, one would rather choose a restrained architectural language / facade design. If, on the other hand, a new building is not exposed to any restrictions from the environment, it can use a concise architecture / facade design itself. It is precisely against this background that I have used a facade design that is itself an eye-catcher, its own high recognition value. Thirdly, to create more than the numerous advertising logos that existed in the workshop in order to enable an individual advertising design for the building.
The technical settings enable up to 60 vehicles to be parked on the parking deck. My experience after creating a total of two parking garages is that the frequency also depends on specific location parameters, among other things. If the parking garage is located in front of a main destination (e.g. train station), the parking areas are frequented by vehicles than if the parking garage is behind a main destination.
The nightly illumination takes into account a comparatively warm light for the shops and a bright light for the stairwells, which are also escape routes in terms of building regulations. This means that shops and stairwells sometimes light up at different times, which is quite authentic due to the different types of use.
Following the majority of the wishes of the Cities Skylines community, the asset is completely free of props. The prop that is visible in the screenshots is the “Öko Straßenlampe”.
The total effort for this three-part set of shopping center, parking garage with shops and the connecting bridge plus advertising and logos is around 75-80 hours. Developing the color concept alone took several hours. Because within the four main colors, the respective color jumps should appear as evenly as possible.
