Description:

This is a Single Point Urban Interchange or S.P.U.I.. It’s a ‘service interchange’, connecting a highway to a regular road network.

This interchange has traffic from all four directions meet in the centre at a single intersection. Because of the additional ramps leading traffic to the right without having to cross this intersection, the traffic lights only have three steps in a full cycle (if properly set up). This interchange need some TLC from TM:PE. But if properly set up (follow screenshots) this interchange can handle lots of traffic!!

– Lane mathematics are applied for a good traffic flow.
– Lane connections have been applied.

– As always; flatten the entire area the blueprint/template covers.
– Use TM:PE’s ‘Junction Restrictions’ tool to remove crosswalks and allow through movements (see screenshots)
– I advise to put a ‘Timed Traffic Light’ on the intersections and set them up as shown in the screenshots.

Because ‘3-lane highways’ are the most commonly used highway type on maps, I’ve created this interchange to be connected (the highway ends on the interchange) to these 3-lane highways. The 4th lane on the 4-lane highways are used as exit and entry lanes.
