Hong Kong Neon Sign – Chuen Cheung Kui

Hong Kong Neon Sign – Chuen Cheung Kui
香港霓虹招牌 – 泉章居
Hong Kong’s neon signs, liting up the night sky of this bustling city, once created the world known iconic image of Hong Kong.
But time flies new laws have been established, restricting signs from hanging out the street for over 4 meters. This causes many neon signs, almost every to be marked as illegal, and have to be taken down. In the name of safety, but to destroy Hong Kong’s unique streetscape. Now, there is almost news every few weeks of neon signs being taken down and heading straight to the landfill. Never going back to the glory days of these signs, this is just one of many things that this city has lost.
This series is meant to revive and preserve fallen and remaining neon signs of Hong Kong by making them into the game. Trying to bring them back and shine one more time.
Neon sign of Chuen Cheung Kui Hakka Restaurant, located at Yim Po Fong Street, Mong Kok, was taken down in 2021.

This sign need additive shader to glow, so please subscribe either the Additive Shader mod or the Prop Anarchy mod.
"Why is this a building, not a prop?"
It is because I have to use the sub-mesh function to let the sign glow with different colors at night, but remain in plain color at day. And since prop doesn’t support sub-meshes, I have to make it a building.
Special thanks to Hong Kong Neon Archive 香港霓虹紀錄[www.instagram.com] for providing drawings of the neon sign, without it, it will be a much harder job to make.
