Description:
A very niche mod. Use once and then unsubscribe!

Repacks trees placed using Tree Anarchy’s extended tree buffer into the vanilla buffer, allowing for trees to remain visible after Tree Anarchy is removed.

This is for mapmakers who’ve accidentally created maps with Tree Anarchy active and want all their trees (under the vanilla limit) to be still visible to users who aren’t using Tree Anarchy. Also works for savegames.

Obviously, only the number of trees that fit into the vanilla buffer size (262,144) can be repacked this way.

If you’re using more trees than that, then you’ll need to keep Tree Anarchy as a dependency.

To use
  • Subscribe to and activate this mod
  • Load your map WITH TREE ANARCHY STILL ACTIVE (editor or game, whatever is appropriate)
  • The mod will run automatically once your map/save has finished loading. A status panel will appear on screen to let you know the mod is doing its thing, and will give you a quick summary of results when it’s finished. It’s normal for the game to be a little unresponsive for a short while after completion while the game rebuilds its tree renders – just wait a minute or so.
  • (Re)save your map/save at this point; this new save will be loadable without Tree Anarchy
  • Exit to desktop, unsubscribe this mod and Tree Anarchy, and reload your map/save in-game to confirm that everything’s worked as expected!

There is no benefit to keeping this mod subscribed once it’s done its job, and keeping it will just be annoying as it repacks everything every time you load a game. You can always re-subscribe later if you need it again; it’s not going anywhere. It’ll still be here, patiently waiting, never judging, full of understanding and compassion, always being accepting of your faults and flaws, and always ready to forgive your repeated failure to remember to deactivate Tree Anarchy when loading into the map editor.
