The truck model is the VW WORKER 17-210, by ‘Volkswagen Trucks and Buses’ of Brazil. The model was exported to more than 30 countries. The modern Constellation Robust took ‘Worker’s place in 2019, ending its production.
The ‘Worker’ and ‘Delivery’ VW truck families entered the brazilian market 30 years ago with the ambitious plan of challenging the sovereign rule of Mercedes Benz trucks. The reliability and low cost of its trucks’ operations made VW achieve the goal succesfully, conquering a huge part of the market – in a continental country with virtually no railroads.
‘Volkswagen Trucks and Buses’ was part of the ‘Commercial Vehicles’ division of the Volkswagen Group. On 1 January 2009, it was sold to MAN SE, and formed its MAN Latin America division. In August 2021, MAN SE was merged with Traton SE, with the latter becoming the direct owner and parent of the brand.
In case it doesn’t show up in your country, this kind of truck body with curtains is intended for making it easier to unload any amount of cargo to any kind of retail stores, specially directly into small suburban bars and pubs. Note that countries in temperate and tropical climates have really hot summers and consume drinks with lower alcohollic strength, but in high quantities.
