阿佐海岸鉄道株式会社（あさかいがんてつどう）は、徳島県海部郡海陽町に本社を置き、デュアル・モード・ビークル（DMV）を用いて阿佐東線および路線バスの運行を行う、第三セクターの鉄道・バス事業者である

そこで運用される「クレイドラ(CRAIDLA)」は、日本の架空自動車メーカーである鯱丸あけぼのトラック＆バス(Shachimaru-Akebono Trucks and Buses)によって開発・製造されているバス車両シリーズである。

設定上は本来のDMV製造元の日野自動車は燃費不正などの一大不正事件により、安佐海岸鉄道側が契約をとり消し、その代わり鯱丸あけぼのトラック＆バス(Shachimaru-Akebono Trucks and Buses)との契約を取り付けたという。

阿佐海岸鉄道については、旧日本鉄道建設公団建設線で、日本国有鉄道経営再建促進特別措置法の施行により1980年に建設工事が中断された阿佐線のうち、大半の構造物ができあがっていた徳島県側の海部駅 – 甲浦駅間を建設・運営するために1988年に徳島県・高知県・海陽町・東洋町などの出資による第三セクター方式で設立された鉄道事業者で、同区間を阿佐東線として運営している。

保有路線が非電化路線のため、すべて気動車である。2020年12月現在、普通鉄道車両2両とデュアル・モード・ビークル (DMV) 3両が在籍している。なお普通鉄道車両2両は後述の通り2020年11月30日をもって運用を終了している。

1992年の開業時に新製普通鉄道車両2両を用意したが、1両が2008年に事故廃車となって車両不足に陥ったため、2009年に代替車として廃止となった高千穂鉄道から1両を無償譲受した。
2019年にはデュアル・モード・ビークル (DMV) を3両導入し、2021年度内から阿波海南駅 – 甲浦駅間で運用を開始する予定と発表された。そして2021年12月25日からは全てデュアル・モード・ビークルにより運行が行われている。

型式名は「DMV-93S形」、各車両に以下の愛称がある。
DMV931号「未来への波乗り」
DMV932号「すだちの風」
DMV933号「阿佐海岸維新」

DMVを導入することで、ランニングコストの削減、室戸岬への観光輸送、DMVによる世界初の車両自体を観光資源化、高齢化が進む沿線地域の交通潤滑化、また、近い将来起こると予想される南海トラフ巨大地震からの迅速な復旧を、道路と鉄道を組み合わせるDMVを利用することで加速することなど、多くの利点が考えられている。

Since the owned lines are non-electrified lines, they are all diesel railcars. As of December 2020, there are 2 regular train cars and 3 dual mode vehicles (DMV). As described below, the two ordinary railcars will be out of service on November 30, 2020.

At the time of opening in 1992, two new ordinary train cars were prepared, but one car was scrapped in 2008 due to an accident and fell into a shortage of cars, so one car was used as a substitute car from Takachiho Railway, which was abolished in 2009. Transferred free of charge.
In 2019, it was announced that three dual-mode vehicles (DMV) will be introduced and will start operation between Awa-Kainan Station and Kapoura Station from the end of 2021. And from December 25, 2021, all operations are being carried out by dual mode vehicles.

The model name is "DMV-93S type", and each vehicle has the following nicknames.

DMV932 "Wind of Sudachi"

The introduction of the DMV will reduce running costs, provide sightseeing transport to Cape Muroto, make the world’s first DMV vehicle itself a tourist resource, and improve traffic lubrication in areas along the railway line, where aging is progressing. Many advantages are considered, such as accelerating rapid recovery from the Nankai Trough megathrust earthquake by using the DMV, which combines roads and railways.
