南京长江大桥位于江苏省南京市鼓楼区下关和浦口区桥北之间,是长江上第一座由中国自行设计和建造的双层式铁路、公路两用桥梁,在中国桥梁史和世界桥梁史上具有重要意义,是中国经济建设的重要成就、中国桥梁建设的重要里程碑,具有极大的经济意义、政治意义和战略意义,有“争气桥”之称。它不仅是新中国技术成就与现代化的象征,更承载了中国几代人的特殊情感与记忆。
[1-2] 南京长江大桥是中国东部地区交通的关键节点,上层为公路桥,长4589米,车行道宽15米,可容4辆大型汽车并行,两侧各有2米多宽的人行道,连通104国道、312国道等跨江公路,是沟通南京江北新区与江南主城的要道之一;下层为双轨复线铁路桥宽14米、全长6772米,连接津浦铁路与沪宁铁路干线,是国家南北交通要津和命脉。大桥由正桥和引桥两部分组成,正桥9墩10跨,长1576米,最大跨度160米。通航净空宽度120米,桥下通航净空高度为设计最高通航水位以上24米,可通过5000吨级海轮。

长江大桥是南京的标志性建筑、江苏的文化符号、中国的辉煌,也是著名景点,被列为新金陵四十八景。从1970年至1993年,先后接待100多个国家和地区的国家元首、政府首脑及600多个外国代表团,来此观览的国内外游客更是难以计数。

大桥建设8年,耗资达2.8758亿人民币,使用38.41万立方米混凝土、6.65万吨钢材。1960年以“世界最长的公铁两用桥”被载入《吉尼斯世界纪录大全》,2014年7月入选不可移动文物,2016年9月入选首批中国20世纪建筑遗产名录。

The Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge is located between Xiaguan in Gulou District and Qiaobei in Pukou District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It is the first double decker railway and highway dual purpose bridge designed and built by China on the Yangtze River. It is of great significance in the history of Chinese bridges and world bridges, and is an important achievement in China’s economic construction and a milestone in China’s bridge construction. It has great economic, political, and strategic significance, It is known as the "Bridge of Prosperity". It is not only a symbol of the technological achievements and modernization of New China, but also carries the special emotions and memories of several generations of Chinese people.

The upper layer is a highway bridge, with a length of 4589 meters and a carriageway width of 15 meters. It can accommodate four large cars in parallel, and there are more than 2 meters wide sidewalks on both sides, connecting national highways such as 104 and 312 across the river. It is one of the key roads connecting the Jiangbei New Area and the main city of Jiangnan in Nanjing; The lower level is a double track double track railway bridge with a width of 14 meters and a total length of 6772 meters, connecting the Jinpu Railway and the main line of the Shanghai Nanjing Railway. It is a national north-south transportation hub and lifeline. The bridge consists of a main bridge and an approach bridge, with 9 piers and 10 spans, a length of 1576 meters, and a maximum span of 160 meters. The navigation clearance width is 120 meters, and the navigation clearance height under the bridge is 24 meters above the designed highest navigation water level, which can pass through 5000 ton seagoing ships.

The Yangtze River Bridge is a landmark building in Nanjing, a cultural symbol in Jiangsu, a glorious sight in China, and a famous scenic spot. It is listed as the 48 Scenic Spots of the New Jinling. From 1970 to 1993, it received more than 100 heads of state and government from countries and regions, as well as over 600 foreign delegations. The number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting here is even more difficult to count.

The bridge has been constructed for 8 years, with a cost of 287.58 million RMB, using 384100 cubic meters of concrete and 66500 tons of steel. In 1960, it was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "world’s longest dual purpose bridge". In July 2014, it was selected as an immovable cultural relic and in September 2016, it was included in the first batch of China’s 20th century architectural heritage list.
