Description:

Harris Train

The Harris train was the first steel body EMU to operate in Melbourne. It was built by Martin & King and Commonwealth Engineering and operated on the suburban network from 1956-1988. This is the 3 door variant of Series 2. While most of the carriages contained asbestos and were scrapped, 56 were converted to H type carriages for use on V/Line services.
This particular set is 6 cars in the following configuration M-T-M-BT-T-M

Variants

3 Car: M-T-M
4 Car: M-T-T-M
6 Car: M-T-M-BT-T-M
7 Car: M-T-T-M-BT-T-M
8 Car (Will be added if there is sufficient interest): M-T-T-M-M-T-T-M
Prop

M = Motor Car
T = Trailer Car (Both ends with solid draw bars)
BT = Trailer Car (One side with autocoupler)

I’m on the fence on whether to do a 2-door variant of the Harris. Leave a comment below if that is something that you would be seriously interested in.

Note: Flattening the doors for the LOD has changed how the model reflects light, so there is a noticeable transition from the regular to LOD model that cannot be prevented without significantly increasing the number of tris.
