Description:

The Solow Building (9 West 57th st) is a 50 story tower in New York City that was completed in 1974. It is notable due to its sloping north and south faces, which was done due to New Yorks natural light laws which require taller towers to tapper back to allow sunlight into the streets. It was designed by Gordon Bunshaft, however the original proposed design of the building was rejected and reworked into the Solow Building we see today. Bunshaft used the rejected design for the W. R. Grace Building several blocks south. The building has an unobstructed view of both central park and midtown Manhattan making rent some of the highest in the city, and making the building one of the most valuable in Manhattan.
