RTL – III Turboliner
Just like last Christmas, I give you your 2024 Cities: Skylines train gift: The Turboliner!
The Turboliner is a gas turbine train operated by Amtrak starting in the 1970s and ending 2003. The second order of Turboliners were built by Rohr in 1976 and are called the RTL Turboliners. Each train set has 2 power cars, 2 coaches, and a food service car. The trainsets were renovated in 1998 to RTL-III standards for high speed operation in New York. They were given newer gas turbine engines and painted in Acela livery. The first one entered service in 2003 but service was suspended later that year. Funding issues eventually canceled the project and the completed train sets were stored. The other Turboliners were eventually scrapped.
