Description:

Girl I have done it again constantly raising the bar for you all and doing it flawlessly. You’d like to say you’re surprised but you know who I am. Once again, back with another LA Asset.

This month I give you a scale recreation of the MOS-1 Stations on the Los Angeles Metro Rail B and D Lines. Opening in 1993 as part of the Red Line Project. MOS-1, or Minimum Operating Segment 1, was the first five of what by the year 2000 would be thirteen new heavy rail subway stations running from the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, to Hollywood, and the San Fernando Valley. This first segment runs from Union Station in Chinatown, to the Civic Center/Grand Park Station by City Hall, to Pershing Square at 5th and Hill, then 7th Street/Metro Center at 7th and Figueroa, and terminating at Westlake/MacArthur Park. These stations were some of the first in the Metro Rail system. Marking the beginnings of the mass transit renaissance that can still be felt in Los Angeles.

Each minimum operating segment of the red line has its own unique quirks in their architecture and MOS-1 is no exception. Stations on this operating segment, with the Exception of Union Station and 7th Street/Metro Center, all have a distinct ovular canopy supported by 3 steel beams that covers the escalators into the station. With stainless steel fittings within the canopy, covered by a teal tinted glass roof. Additionally these stations all have a marble U shape around the edge of the opening that leads you underground to the station. With a circular stainless steel beam aligning with it.

For this project however, my main inspiration was the Civic Center/Grand Park station located in the middle of the Gloria Molina Grand Park and a short walk away from City Hall. As the name implies this is located in the Center of Government for LA County. A frequent spot for banal mundanities like accessing government services, court appearances, and local government work it also tends to be a hotspot for protests, rallies, and civic action. With the area being a large concentration of anti-ICE protests in June of 2025. However, the station is also as the name once again suggests, in a park. Making it an excellent destination to travel to for a pleasant picnic when the area isn’t be rocked by Civil Unrest and Protest.

This station is an excellent addition to your city if you’re looking for a station to complement your city park or your city hall. With trees, greenery and benches all around to make a wonderful place for citizens to hang around and really add to the character of your city.

I did take some creative liberties in order to make it work better with the game. This station only has one entrance which isn’t accurate for most MOS-1 stations. With the exception of Westlake/Macarthur Park which had it’s second entrance closed off for security reasons in 2020.,all MOS-1 stations tend to have two entrances. Additionally some of the plants and benches aren’t accurate because I just didn’t wanna make new ones so I used the vanilla ones.

I made this model because I was shocked by the lack of LA Metro Rail Stuff that was on the workshop. Especially LA Metro Rail Stuff so I decided to make my own. I think next I’m gonna try doing Union Station so follow me and look out for that one coming probably in the next month or so. We’ll see how things go. After Union maybe I might go for North Hollywood Station or Hollywood/Highland or something Like that. I also have a Breda A650 model that is pretty much done, it just needs to be textured sooooooo, maybe maybe in the next week or so you’ll get a metro rail car asset to complement this.

If you liked this consider leaving a positive review and a comment, my ego really appreciates it. Also consider buying me a coffee and tipping me on Ko-Fi. It really would mean a lot considering my current broke and jobless status.

Plus check out my sketchfab linked on the side for the raw model. I swear I’m gonna upload it this time. I know I forgot with city hall but just give me a minute guys.

Also if you haven’t already go subscribe to my LA City Hall Asset linked here. It’s pretty sick. Also just wanna say thank you to everyone who did download it. 1500 subscribers is crazy and I wasn’t expecting it to blow up like that. It was absolutely crazy to see something I made be so popular and hopefully we can get similar momentum on this.

Additionally I’d recommend you check out my youtube channel on the sidebar, got a new video in the works, kinda, it’s filmed I just haven’t edited it because I’m a procrastinator and I’m lazy.

Lastly check out my website

And that’s it. As for credits, the station was modeled, textured and imported by me. The system map and TAP vending machine were made by Polygon in their excellent prop pack Los Angeles Metro Prop Pack . And the Benches, Trees and trashcans are vanilla assets. Feel free to use this however you like, just make sure to credit me and if you’re gonna repost this, just be transformative with it. Don’t just ape it, and if you do, at least again, consider my Ko-fi.

Lastly,
