Opened in 1966, the Montréal Métro is a rubber-tyre metro system serving the Greater Montreal area in Quebec, Canada. Designed by Jacques Roy in 1963, the downward arrow symbol represents underground metro access across the city. You can find this metro sign easily in most parts of downtown Montreal, and it’s become a symbol of the city too.
