550 Madison Avenue, more commonly called The Sony Tower or Sony Plaza (formerly the AT&T Building), was built from 1981 – 84. This buildings design went out of its way to be ornamental; the entry way alone is 7 stories tall, which sets it apart from most of the other efficient space using buildings in New York City. It is the current headquarters of Sony Corporation of America.
